The
landscape and the vegetation on the Methana Peninsula is greatly
variety. Large pine and oak forests give way to the various rare
wild plants that grow in this area, such poppies, orchids,
anemones, mushrooms (parasol), wild roses (in Starologos),
cyclamens, arbutus and almond trees, and many more.
The flora of the peninsula is Mediterranean but the volcanic soil
allows other plants, not commonly found in this area, to grow. The
volcanic soils accommodate many rare plants, flowers and therapeutic
herbs. During spring you will find orchids as well as other rare wile
flowers. You can get to know the flora of the peninsula while
walking along one of the many footpaths. And the magic of the landscape
along with the integrity of nature will revive your senses. |
